Our testing protocols are used with professional tank leak detection equipment to meet the performance requirements outlined in international quality standards, which are:
Out-of-tank product detectors with vapor phase and liquid phase
Non-volumetric and volumetric tank tightness test methods
Pipeline leak detection systems
Automatic measurement systems
Statistical inventory reconciliation methods
These leak tests are not used as a routine monthly leak detection method, but are used under special circumstances and become necessary when a monthly or recurring leak is detected, after evaluating the recorded readings, knowing that the tank must be out of service for the test. Leak tests are temperature dependent, an adequate waiting period between adding the product to the tank and starting the actual test (usually three to six hours) should be considered. Finally, background information, information about the tanks and their surroundings, year of manufacture, time in use, size and material of the tank, are reviewed before starting the test.
