The procedure for cleaning hydrocarbon storage tanks consists of progressively fluidizing the sludge deposited at the bottom of the tank, which is formed by the accumulation of water, oxidation, or growth of microbial flora. This ensures the fuel quality required by law, as well as the integrity of the container, in order to prevent its deterioration and any possible risk of leakage or spillage.
At UltraTank, this cleaning process is performed by certified experts in hazardous waste management. This is because not only is the task at hand risky in confined spaces, with volatile gases and contaminated sludge, but the hazardous waste must also be stored and transported to a safe location for final neutralization.
These must comply with the following process:
- Extraction of clean fuel and its storage in a temporary tank.
- Preparation of the environment to be cleaned by degassing it.
- Tank cleaning with detergents and pressurized water, as well as scraping of layers or strata, by properly protected personnel.
- Sludge suction, storage and transportation.
- Fuel filtration and reintegration into the tank.
